Sustainability

We supply high-performance, trendy and eco-sustainable fabrics to clothing brands.

We believe that technical efficiency, style and respect for the environment can coexist and walk together.

Each step of our supply chain contributes to the realization of a conscious and sustainable future. We carefully select our suppliers by ensuring that our partners share our values and that they operate exclusively to the highest standards.

In recent years we have invested heavily in sustainable technologies to reduce the environmental impact and we have dedicated a lot of space to collections with fabrics made with regenerated fibers such as wool, cotton, polyester and polyamide.

Our commitment to sustainability

Tessile Fiorentina is part of the sustainable revolution of the Prato textile district. For us, this means participating in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda: a global challenge in which everyone is called to do their part.

TESSILE FIORENTINA
ECO-PROJECT

With our eco-project we are committed to achieving company objectives through sustainable activities:

  • We have introduced renewable energy sources directly into the company, increasing energy efficiency.
  • On our roof there is a photovoltaic system with more than 21,000 square meters of silicon solar panels capable of producing energy for a total power of 1,100,000 kWh per year.
  • We maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • We are committed to producing high quality fabrics with BIO-BASED fibers and certified organic cotton from plantations that guarantee a conscious use of chemistry, according to the criteria of low environmental impact required for ‘organic cultivation’.
  • We use recycled polyester fibers, yarns derived from recycled clothing and products with polymers obtained from the recycling of plastic bottles (PET).
  • We create our fabrics with certified mulesing free and Moretta wool.

Our sustainable productions start with eco-friendly materials

From a sustainable point of view, Tessile Fiorentina chooses to work with certified eco-friendly materials.

We develop our fabrics with fibers of:

Regenerated wool: obtained from the complete recycling of post consumer garments and textile processing scraps, composed in different percentages of wool. Through this process, we carry on the heritage and tradition of the Prato textile district.

Recycled polyester: our polyester comes from the recycling of plastic bottles, contributing to waste disposal and supporting Italian sustainable textile creativity.
Recycled cotton: coming from the recycling of old clothes or processing scraps.

Mulesing Free Merino Wool: we choose certified Merino wool that comes from suppliers who do not use mulesing. The raw material is obtained through specific processes, thanks to which no animal is mistreated.

Lana Moretta: it is a natural wool that comes from a combination of different shades of color, the colors are the original ones of the sheep and range from white to dark brown. Moretta wool, not being dyed, is totally sustainable and its production contributes to saving water and energy and lower carbon dioxide emissions.

TECHNO-POLYESTER

Tessile Fiorentina is among the first fleece manufacturers to focus its green vision on solving the problem of excess plastic that contaminates our ecosystem.

We have in fact developed a supply chain for non-virgin fiber that allows us to have a massive impact on energy requirements and global resources, we save 56% more electricity than processing virgin polyester and decreasing CO2 emissions of the 32%. Our techno-poly is GRS certified and obtained through chemical or mechanical processing by recycling plastic bottles (PET). Once collected and divided by composition, their plastic is reduced into polyester flakes and transformed into granules by fusion, subsequently extruded into fibers and then spun. For a long time Tessile Fiorentina has been committed to recycling part of the plastic abandoned in landfills or on beaches using new eco-friendly yarns to produce high-performance fabrics.

Certifications of our supply chain

The GRS recognizes the importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model, with the aim of promoting the reduction of resource consumption (virgin raw materials, water and energy) and increasing the quality of recycled products. The certificate (issued after careful verification by the ICEA institute) ensures the content of recycled materials of their products, both intermediate and finished, the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process, restrictions on the use of chemicals and compliance with environmental and social criteria in all phases of the production chain from the recycling of materials, to the subsequent manufacturing phases, up to the labeling of the finished product.
